Ninjago: Ranking the Seasons

15. Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu

Ninjago' Season 11 Premiere: First 8 Episodes on Cartoon Network App Right Now - TheHDRoom

Season 11 is 100% the most pathetic thing lego has come out with. From the confusing order of episodes are releasing random filler Fire Chapter episodes in the Ice Chapter to forgettable villains are boring plot twists this season is the worst to come out of them all. When this season first came out I felt really excited since the posters and the sets were amazing. Unfortunately, this season ended up being very forgettable.

14. Day of the Departed

LEGO Ninjago: Day of the Departed (DVD): Torsten Jacobsen, Erik Wilstrup: Movies & TV - Amazon.com

For Ninjago’s 5 Year Anniversary, Ninjago decided to make a special 45 minute episode featuring all of our previous villains returning to haunt the ninja. Although, the concept was well made, Lego just could not simply shove 5 villains that the ninja took 8-13 episodes to defeat in one episode. The special ended being very crammed and felt like a forced way to give Cole his human form once again.

13. The Pilots

When the pilot season debuted on January 14th, it hooked fans forever, and would change the course of Lego’s direction towards marketing their toys. Although I may have enjoyed the two-episode mini season, I feel it is boring and has a lack of plot. While the season sets up the show for future adventures, it also is a classic storyline that a lot of the fantasy genre follows and wasn’t really unique.

12. Prime Empire

LEGO Ninjago: Prime Empire - Games - LEGO.com for kids - US

Although, the concept of high-tech ninja had been in the series before, Ninjago didn’t take it to the full extent of the Ninja entering a video game. Although the first handful of episodes were good, and enjoyable, the later episodes were very rushed, and the season could have benefited from two or three more episodes. The season also had a very memorable villain, but the cheesy jokes and rushed episodes keep this season from getting higher on my list.

11. Master of the Mountain

Although many people love this season a lot, I think it is generally overrated, and had some very boring episodes and did not establish more lore for the series. I think one of the most important things that the newer season lack is the lore and explanation, while the villain and some side characters were interesting, I find this season a Hunted 2.0. That isn’t exactly a bad thing, but it’s stale and boring.

10. Rise of the Snakes

NINJAGO Rise of the Snakes – the story…

While many people find this season iconic, let’s be realistic. This season was a meh season. While the season established lore that would set up seasons 4, 7 ,& 11, this season was boring for the most part and didn’t really have you jumping off your seat to see what’s next.

9. Skybound

NINJAGO EPISODE 55 "Infamous" REVIEW!!!!! - YouTube

While this season had an amazing villain, the plot was terrible and the prison arc was outright pathetic. This season could have changed Ninjago forever, yet it somehow did the worst thing it could at the end of the season: reversing the events of the season. While I still love this season, I genuinely don’t enjoy the season

8. Rebooted

Ninjago Rebooted: Season 3 Opening 1 - YouTube

While Prime Empire does a terrible job handling the sci-fi theme of the series, this season not only was a great season overall, it also answered our questions about the Overlord, had a lot of great action, did a lot of fanservice, and also brought a new beginning for the series as the name of the season suggests. The reason why this season was not higher up on my list is because of the fact that it had a lack of episodes and would have benefited from a two or three more episodes, similar to Prime Empire.

7. Possession

Season 5: Possession | Ninjago Wiki | Fandom

While Possession is a well-made season it didn’t establish a lot of big things for the series kind of expanded on the events of Tournament of Elements, and I feel that some more explanation for Yang and his temple would have also helped the season a lot. On the other hand, I love this season, because of Kai’s arc, the funny moments between Zane and Cole, and the implications that the season had on the series giving a darker tone to the series.

6. March of the Oni

LEGO NINJAGO Season 10 March Of The Oni | BricksFanz

While many people consider this season to be a very rushed season, I believe that this season is perfect. While it may have benefited from 2 more episodes, I think that it was pretty well made as a whole film. I loved the 4-part tie-in and the Dark Breach that Lloyd and Garmadon went through. I also love Cole’s sacrifice arc, and his return was which actually explained, unlike Zane’s death.

5. Legacy of the Green Ninja

Watch LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu Season 2 | Prime Video

While this season, similar to season 11 has a lot of filler, the second half outweighs that and the 2nd half definitely had a lot of action and adventure, great lore, and is literally the most memorable season. From the Golden Ninja to the Overlord, I loved this season and re-watched the season several times, and it’s one I keep coming back to.

4. Hands of Time

LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu Season 7 [DVD] - Best Buy | Lego ninjago, Lego, Ninjago

A lot of people outright hate this season, and I’ve seen people who feel that this season was messed up. I though, enjoyed every single episode with the mystery aspect of the series.

3. Sons of Garmadon

LEGO Ninjago - Sons of Garmadon - SDCC Sneak Peak Season 8 - LEGO Ninjago - Sons of Garmadon - YouTube

Ninjago- Sons of Garmadon kicked off the Oni Saga and was one of the best seasons produced, and the only season when the villain won. The season has elements of mystery and romance, taking on a darker tone similar to Possesion.

2. Tournament of Elements

LEGO NINJAGO Legacy Tournament Of Elements; Temple Building Set Featuring Ninja Minifigures 71735 : Target

Literally the 2nd best season ever, Season 4 introduced us to elements of of the show (Pun not intended) that would set up almost every season that followed and concluded Zane’s death arc.

  1. Hunted
Hunted" Ninjago season 9 - SO READY FOR THE DRAGONS | Ninjago kai, Ninjago, Lego ninjago

Hunted IS the best season ever. While still keeping the “good” parts and elements of season 8, mashed up with season 4, and has double the fun and was probably my “golden” age when I was the most invested in the series. Unfortunately, ever since the debut of Season 11, I’ve lost interest in the series, and hopefully the future seasons will be better than our recent ones.

  1. We’re not a million miles off each other in our rankings.

Even though my order is different, your analysis is spot on.

The newer seasons are the worst yet. Its the 10 minute format. It’s killing the show. Leaving no room for sub plots and character development etc.

      1. Just imagine a character like Clancy trying to get the same amount of screen time as he did in Skybound. In the new short format. It wouldn’t happen.

Or the incidental jokes like Eyzor asking if the Chope and Kapow had ‘checked out the waterfall.’

The show needs time and room to breathe. Look at all the space they gave the action in ATLAB. That’s show is full of space and pauses and it’s beautiful for it.

Anyway. I’m not sure what good I’m doing ranting about it… Ha ha… Sorry
